Lassi with Lavina Guide to Upcoming Events – TiEcon New York
In New York, it’s all about Invention – and Reinvention.
Calling all entrepreneurs and wanna-be entrepreneurs. Are you a closet inventor or disrupter? Do you think startups are something magical that only other people create? Do you have questions about mentor-ship, incubators and funding? Do you want to conquer the social media world?
Here’s your chance to mingle with the best thinkers and creators at the TiEcon NY at Convene Conference Center. The theme of this full day conference is ‘Invention and Reinvention: A Celebration of Global Entrepreneurship’, and you get to listen to game-changers like Arianna Huffington, founder of the Huffington Post Media Group, Daniel Lubetzky, founder and CEO of Kind Snacks and Kevin Ryan, former DoubleClick and Gilt Group CEO. Sree Sreenivasan, chief digital officer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and social media wiz will lead the way in fine-tuning your social media footprint.
Besides several big names, you will also meet the innovators who are thinking out of the box to create impact. Miki Agrawal is the CEO and Co‐Founder of THINX, a high‐tech, underwear solution for women to wear during their periods. She teamed up with AFRIpads in Uganda to fund a pack of reusable cloth pads for every underwear sold to get millions of girls back in school.
There’s Umang Dua, the Co‐Founder and COO of Handy. Prior to founding Handy, Umang founded College Connect, an online platform in India that connected aspiring college students with enrolled students around the world.
Meeting innovators is just the icing on the cake, as the full day program immerses you in innovation and entrepreneurship, and opens up several possibilities, including networking and sharing of ideas. Here’s a blurb from the TiE Con site: “Panels include VCs, FinTech, Healthcare, Clean Tech, India Private Equity, Social Entrepreneurship and even get your Social Media Presence checked out and evaluated by our Social Media Doctors! ”
This should be a very interesting day especially since it’ s being held far from Silicon Valley in Silicon Alley! It’s all happening under a brand new president. Indeed, TiE NY has for the first time in its history, a woman president Roopa Unnikrishnan and we will be seeing both genders represented in the panels. Says Unnikrishnan about the upcoming conference: “See NY innovation at work – be inspired, challenged and strengthened by the thought provoking keynotes, panels, personal social media consulting sessions and networking opportunities. Get up close to some of the great startup icons of Silicon Valley.”
