An Evening with Pepita Seth

It was a book reading to which the books never made it, but if an image is worth a thousand words, then guests got a good idea of what they would get when they finally got the book. The event was the book launch of ‘Heaven on Earth: The Universe of Kerala’s Guruvayur Temple’ and noted author-photographer Pepita Seth was at the Aicon Gallery for the slide show and talk organized by Indo-American Arts Council.
The show of remarkable photographs from the book and a Q. and A. with WNYC reporter Arun Venugopal gave guests an entre into the fabled temple. It was also a rare and welcome opportunity to meet Pepita Seth whose life has been dedicated to the crafts and culture of Kerala. ‘Heaven on Earth: The Universe of Kerala’s Guruvayur Temple’ has been seven years in the making and the fabulous images are the next best thing to being able to actually visit this iconic temple.
