If you’re wondering what the Secret Garden is, and where it is,  it is Children’s Hope India’s annual gala and it was held on October 7 at Pier Sixty in Manhattan. The theme of this much anticipated fundraiser for the education of under-served children was based on the classic children’s novel ‘The Secret Garden’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett which shows how love and compassion can transform the lives of children.

Yes, it’s that time of the year again when you cast aside your coats, boots and winter blues and celebrate beautiful Spring with your friends at the event of the season –  The Children’s Hope Spring Luncheon!

Cocktails and Conversation with Chandrika Tandon was a small informal event organized by CHI’s junior board CH2 through which young professionals get started in helping the less privileged and creating a future for them through education.

At Hope in Hyderabad Gala, it was an evening which celebrated the past and the future. While rich rust and gold draping, minarets and images of the Char Minar and the art, crafts and cuisine of this fabled city emphasized the past glories of Hyderabad, the evening was really about the youth, its potential and the future.

Over 250 women turned up for a fabulous Spring Luncheon at Swan Club organized by Children’s Hope India to support the children living in homeless shelters in New York City. A highlight of the 2015 spring luncheon is the Woman of Distinction Award, given to a woman who has managed to balance the challenges of the workplace, home and social responsibility. This year we honored Ila Paliwal who is a classically trained vocalist, song writer and producer. She was presented the award by Sadhna Shanker, wife of the Consul General of India, Ambassador D. Mulay.

A mobile ‘Chalta Phirta’ school, computer learning in the slums, performance arts and sports are just some of the innovative ways education is being brought to the underserved children in the urban slums and in rural India, by Children’s Hope India.
