It’s the wedding of the year and to officiate it, there’s none more qualified than the feisty Mira Nair who brings a preview peek of her hot new musical ‘Monsoon Wedding’ right to the gala! Enjoy musical numbers from this wedding blast with Anisha Nagarajan and Namit Das, along with the cast of ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and dancers from the wonderful Sa Dance Company.

    [dropcap]T[/dropcap]his year’s gala at Pier Sixty on October 28, is very special because it marks the 25th year of Children’s Hope India’s work and brings supporters for a real live celebration of bettering children’s lives. What started as a small group of women professionals trying to make a difference with one orphanage in Mumbai today covers 22 projects across India and has taken on four schools, emphasizing CHI’s cradle to career holistic philosophy for the welfare of children.

    [dropcap]T[/dropcap]he highlight of the evening is meeting and celebrating two individuals who have bettered lives and made a difference in young people’s future. Chandrika Tandon, who receives the Lotus Award, is a Grammy-nominated musician who has a remarkable new album out, ‘Shivoham – the Quest’ which can transport you into another dimension. She is a true Renaissance Woman who has enriched the worlds of the arts, business, education and public service.

    [dropcap]B[/dropcap]ob Roth, who receives the Making a Difference Award, is the Chief Executive Officer of the David Lynch Foundation which has brought meditation to over 500,000 inner-city youth in underserved schools in 35 countries, to veterans and their families who suffer from post-traumatic stress, and to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. He is also the author of Transcendental Meditation, which has been translated into 20 languages.

    [dropcap]G[/dropcap]uests to the upcoming Children’s Hope India Gala  will get to meet these two powerhouses and felicitate them on their awards: . Over 500 guests are expected from the Tri-State area to attend this fun-raiser  which raises funds for the educational projects in India and the US.

    The Master of Ceremonies of this inspirational evening is Tinku Jain, noted broadcaster.  The highlight of the evening will be the live auction of a stay in the Bulgari Villa in Tuscany and gorgeous jewelry from Nirav Modi.

    [dropcap]T[/dropcap]here will also be live-pledging  of life-changing ventures where guests get to bid on educational projects for the newly created Children’s Hope Girls Academy in Bhopal. This exciting auction will be conducted by Sandhya Jain-Patel of Christie’s. Guests at the gala are in for a gourmet adventure with New York celebrity chef Gaurav Anand (Aroqa and Awadh) as he recreates the joys of NYC street delights for the cocktail hour. This will be followed by  a creative sit-down dinner and a Dessert Bar full of delicious surprises!

Now in 2017, Children’s Hope India has over 22 projects across several cities in India and the New York Metropolitan area, and has impacted over 250,000 children by looking after their health, education and vocational training.
