“Chocolates love me for whatever crazy package that I am. They don’t try and change me into their idea of who I should be. All encompassing, all embracing, unconditional acceptance of a soul mate is what my chocolate gives me.”~ Lucks

Chocolates - Soulmate? Photo by Tantek

    Chocolates=Soulmates

Chocolate is a girl’s best friend. No woman of any age can resist these delicious treats, as is evident from clichéd movie scenes where the ladies gorge on chocolates at any and all occasions. Chocolates tantalize, mesmerize, enchant, and seduce a girl. They are like estrogen-sniffing magnets, attracting us into their strong energy-field.

Why do women eat chocolates? I am sure there are a variety of scientific reasons for that, I can only talk about myself and my million reasons for gorging on these sinful delights. I am a chocoholic and seldom do I discriminate between any make, brand name, taste, appearance or chemical composition of the chocolates.

I just eat them by truck-loads, depending on my mood and the intensity of the emotions being experienced at the moment. Maybe that’s the reason why I resemble a truck, not that I give a bar of chocolate, or lose any precious sleep over it.

    Chocolate Power

On happy days, I love munching on a regular bar of chocolate, any brand, any flavor, as long as it’s sweet…the sweeter, the better. I reward myself with a piece of heaven, every time I reach a milestone in my everyday life. My middle name is glutton and I am also known as ‘Can’t Resist Chocolate Girl’. Like I said, I don’t discriminate, Toblerone, Galaxy, Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury, Mars, Snickers, Lindt, and Kit Kat. Bring it on, I eat them all.

When friends meet, family members get together, or sitting at home and watching reruns on television, reading a book or writing an article, chocolate is my constant companion. My true soulmate.

A soulmate is the theoretical person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity, love, intimacy, compatibility. A soulmate completes you, chocolates complete me. Yes, chocolate is my soulmate or a close second to him, in any case.

A Chocoholic's dream (Photo by Cleverocity)

When I am sad, I gorge on bitter chocolates, dark ones to suit my dark mood and thoughts. The darker the better, this time. They soothe me, make me brave enough to face the day and help me stay afloat in the turbulent waters of emotional upheaval, chocolates help me survive.

    Is Chocolate the Better Soulmate?

Chocolates beat men hands down, if only they could talk, we women would never need anybody else ever again. I can’t speak for others but I would be completely satisfied with just my chocolates for company.

Chocolates talk to me in a language of their own. They are great listeners too, unlike the men in our lives, who tune us out the moment we start speaking. At least in my case, I get ignored by him…a lot, or maybe I talk too much and he has no other recourse but to tune me out.

He keeps nodding his head all the time that I am trying to have a conversation with him and he occasionally lifts his head up from the newspaper that he is reading, again, for the tenth time today. I wonder what news article he could have missed in the last nine times that he devoured this newspaper from the first page to the twenty-sixth.

He keeps throwing disinterested and bored looks my way, as I continue speaking about the crappy day I have had. I tell him about the annoying salesperson at the mall and the rude driver who cut me off on the way to the market, the gas stove acting up and a million other things and the only response he gives is a nod now and then and an occasional grunt,  huh,  and aha intermittently.

I mean, come on, am I that boring?

No, I am not and I have my chocolate to second my claim. Believe him, if you don’t believe me. He will tell you how nice I am, how I make him feel so special and loved. The feeling is mutual BTW. So men – be men. Ignore us, torment us, neglect us – we don’t care. We have our magic cure, our darling chocolate to help us remain sane during the tumultuous periods of our lives. I love you, my darling chocolate, and my soulmate.

@Andy, welcome to Chatty Divas and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.You are a writer and know that writers have a creative license to write anything, truth or fiction. Is my chocolate better than my soulmate or not? Keep guessing 🙂

      Hello.
      lol…what a fun post!

Like you, I’m a complete chocoholic. I can eat it in any shape or form. I don’t have it too often though, because it wreaks havoc on my waistline.

Now as much as I love chocolate, it can never replace my soul mate, my queen, my reason for living, my reason for loving life & for being in love…my beautiful wife…she’s my chocolate. She’s my aphrodisiac.

I can enjoy her without having to count any calories or worry about my blood sugars being too high when I over-indulge. I just have to look at her & I’m on a chocolate high. I just have to hear her voice & I get a chocolate fix. She’s my gourmet chocolate, my specialty & when she wraps her loving arms around me late at night, I know I’m in chocolate heaven. Now that’s what I call seriously addicted to chocolate…it’s delightfully sinful! (lol)

      Thanks for sharing.

SULEKHA RAWAT….you are “THE BEST”….I wish it could really happen…(but the side effects of the sinful delight)….I loved it from my heart…

    16. Larry Lewis on November 7, 2011 7:15 am

There’s a saying ‘You can’t live with them, but you can’t live without them’. So from a male perspective, I believe we could be referring to either chocolate or ladies. As a healthy lifestyle blogger i certainly would say too much of either can only do you harm. My recommendation – find just one and on a weekly basis, share together your weekly treat of naughty but mmmm so nice chocolate.

    17. sulekha on November 7, 2011 1:40 am

@Savira, Yes we do…Men, can’t live with them and can’t live without them too:)Thanks for the comment.

    18. sulekha on November 7, 2011 1:39 am

@David, my apologies if I have offended the menfolk, it was never my goal. I have written about how chocolate affects my mood and life. Thanks for not taking it the wrong way. Appreciate your compliments, bitter chocolate has its days, less than sweet ones though.

    19. sulekha on November 7, 2011 1:36 am

@Jan, lucky you! I wish I could eat the chocolate cake for breakfast too 🙂 Thanks for the visit and the lovely compliment.

    22. sulekha on November 7, 2011 1:30 am

@Manisha, you are a true chocoholic like me, thanks for the visit and comment.

    23. sulekha on November 7, 2011 1:29 am

@Swati, thanks a ton for agreeing with me, did I do too much of Man-bashing here? Wasn’t my intention, just putting my thoughts across.

    24. Savy on November 6, 2011 9:20 pm

Chocolate – bring it on….. As for men… they may be the way they are but let’s be honest or real here..at least we know what we are getting ourselves into…
      Great read Sulekha….

    25. David Smith on November 6, 2011 2:37 pm

Fun entertaining read that brought a smile to my face. Enjoy how your preferred chocolate changes with your mood though I’m hoping bitter isn’t enjoyed too often. Despite the man-bashing I enjoyed my visit 🙂
