eBay & You: Celebrate the Season of Giving!

Win a $100 eBay Certificate  & Also Help Indian NGOs

There was a time many years ago when Indian-Americans had to travel to India to get their holiday outfits, music and jewelry – or at least drive down to the nearest Little India, which may have been miles away, depending on which part of the US you lived in. Now times have changed and your India fix is a click away, thanks to eBay.

eBay? Yes, eBay! The quintessential American site where you bid on mainstream merchandise is now highlighting all things Indians especially for the Diaspora through its dedicated website which offers everything you may hanker for from designer ethnic wear to jewelry to music, posters and Bollywood movies. The site has a tagline of ‘Bring India Home for the Holidays’ offers over 52,000 products from Indian entrepreneurs.

Season for Giving – and Receiving

This holiday season you can send the perfect gift to the ones you love and at the same time help some wonderful NGOS in India. For every purchase made on the site, eBay donates a dollar to three non-profits in India on a rotating basis – Aseema, a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to providing underprivileged children with a fostering educational environment; Literacy India, a non-profit organization focusing on empowering disadvantaged children and women through education; and Jan Swa Shakti Samiti, a women’s welfare NGO that cultivates livelihood skills among women. One non-profit will be featured per week on the Holiday microsite.

Kriti – thank you! These one dollar additions really add up and go quite far in helping NGOs. So it’s a nice effort during the holidays when people are buying gifts anyway.
