Virgil Thomson: The Mother of Us All

    Music by Virgil Thomson
    Libretto by Gertrude Stein
    Daniela Candillari, conductor
    Louisa Proske, director
Felicia Moore, soprano, as Susan B. Anthony
Singers from The Juilliard School’s Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts
Musicians from the New York Philharmonic

    Friday, April 3, 7 pm

The Met is pleased to host the digital premiere of The Mother of Us All.

This past February, on the eve of Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday, The Met presented
The Mother of Us All in collaboration with The Juilliard School and the New York Philharmonic, led by some of today’s most dynamic and pioneering young artists working in opera.

This fully staged production imaginatively chronicles the story of Susan B. Anthony and the women’s suffrage movement. The vivid, gripping story mirrors many of today’s continued struggles for the civil rights of people disenfranchised on the basis of gender, race, and sexuality. The production was roundly applauded by the press and the audience.

On Friday, April 3, view a gorgeous multicamera video that captures the powerful directorial vision and dazzling setting, the Charles Engelhard Court, The Met’s sculpture court in the American Wing.

Join us as we relive the magic of The Mother of Us All during these historic and challenging times. Tune in and experience a moment of unity as we watch together.
