    It's All About Relationships

    “Diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend…freedom is…”

-Camille Grammar “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”

Wow! Time flies when you are having fun.  It has been a little over a year since I started blogging for Lassi with Lavina and I am absolutely amazed by all the positive feedback.  We’ve conversed about so many important topics.  I enjoyed sharing my take on dating, relationships, love, heartbreak, depression, spirituality, emotionally unavailability, positive thinking, marriage, addiction, Kim Kardashian, social media etc, etc…

Writing for the Single Desi Community on Lassi with Lavina

When I was asked to write for the single desi community, I wasn’t sure how to respond.  I mean to really write about your experiences requires you to look back and be self analytical.  Along with looking back, I wanted to use my professional background as a school psychologist to advise people on different topics affecting the single desi community.

First things First, I had to go over every experience in the last 12 years of my life. Quite frankly that wasn’t easy to do.  Some good memories; some bad memories and some in between memories.   I had to be diplomatic, professional and I had to remain calm while taking a trip down memory lane.

Understanding the difference between men and woman and where life is headed requires a lot of soul searching.  Nevertheless, I am always up for a challenge and Lavina and I thought we would try it and see how it turns out.  The fact that we are talking a year later gives me gratitude that I was able to support you in your life journey and encourage you to stand tall without wavering.

The biggest lesson I have learned in my life that I hope to impart on you as you move forward in life is resiliency.  Resiliency is the key to growth, it is the key to life and it is the key to survival.  Each and every one of you is a survivor in your own way.  You have all been the object of someone’s wrong doings; the victim of someone’s games and the subject of bad karma.  Life doesn’t just happen; god has a plan for each and every one of you.

Words of Single Wisdom from Monica Marwah

As a single woman, I would like to impart to you some other life lessons that have helped me in my life as a thank you for always reading and being a great audience.

    • Find your voice and use it.  Don’t be afraid to speak your mind.  Your needs are just as important as his.
    • Be happy.
    • Learn to cook…or make beer.
    • Learn to make Margaritas…they are great for rainy days…
    • Find a hobby.
    • The world has a way of defining you if you don’t know who you are before you get out there. Know your values and convictions beforehand and stand up for what you believe in.
    • Don’t blame yourself for all the delusions, guys are great actors.
    • You can’t change a man, so don’t bother trying.
    • In a relationship, always speak your mind.
    • Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual…you are left to your own devices to figure things out.
    • Days of Our Lives is a great soap.
    • Self love is the most important love.
    • Always be yourself…even if you are unique.
    • Be true to yourself.
    • Never forget your cultural heritage…no matter what kinds of experiences you have had in life in relation to your race or ethnic background.
    • Be Grateful.
    • Eat Ice Cream or chocolate.
    • Failure builds character.
    • Drive and Perseverance is very important for the Independent woman.  Keep it going strong.
    • Always support yourself.
    • If you are serious about meeting quality people, participate in an activity that you enjoy and the rest will follow.

    • More Wisdom for the Road….

    • You are beautiful, worthy and intelligent.
    • God loves you and you are HIS creation.  Your blessings are due to him; your shortcomings are due to him.  Be thankful.
    • You deserve the very best that life has to offer.
    • Bad endings give rise to even better beginnings.
    • When people stand in your way, it is only because you are destined for bigger and better things later in life.  YOU will surpass them.  I have learned that repeatedly.

Shoot me with your words. Cut me with your eyes. Kill me with your hatefulness. But still, like air, I’ll rise. –#ihatequotes.

-Smile like you’ve never cried, fight like you’ve never lost, love like you’ve never been hurt, and live like you’ll die tomorrow.

I wish you nothing but the best

    xoxo
