Diwali – Past and Present and for the Future….
The silver Lakshmi is from my dad’s collection; the gold Lakshmi in an ancient frame is at least 80 years old and from the Melwani clan as is the Jhule Lal image from pre-partition. The little Krishna was given to me by an older sister. The apples and bananas are from America’s bounty. The earthen diya was carted back from the homeland, India.
Together they have all combined to make decades of Diwalis in America meaningful and happy.
We now invoke their strength with a heartfelt prayer for the well-being and security of our entire universe.
