Valentine’s Day Thoughts from the Bidens

Walking with Love, Gratitude, Compassion, Healing…

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] few months back this scene would have been unimaginable – heart-shaped messages on the lawn of the White House, celebrating love, family, compassion and healing. A relaxed President Joe Biden in blue jeans and jacket, with a cup of coffee in his hands. Accompanied by a smiling First Lady, the teacher-in-chief, probably responsible for organizing these colorful signs which would bring joy to any student’s heart. And with them their two First Dogs, Champ and Major, out on a morning walk.  What a perfectly normal scene from everyday life – yet one the nation has hungered for in the stress of the past four traumatic years.

The love between the Bidens is so evident and we know that love has been strengthened by grief and loss.

We’ve all been touched by their message of love and caring for everyone. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we took a leaf from their lives and made the larger world our valentine and be capable of compassion and giving a hand wherever it was needed?

President Biden: “#ValentinesDay is a big. Jill’s favorite day. For real.”

Q: “What inspired you to do this?”@FLOTUS: “I just wanted some joy. With the pandemic, just everybody’s feeling a little down. So, it’s just a little joy. A little hope. That’s all.” pic.twitter.com/JW0S1cclNO
