    Wanted - A Tweeter-in-Chief for Obama

All you fans of Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, looking for a job that satisfies your passion for social networking? Well your country needs you, President Obama needs you! Organizing for America, the successor organization to Obama for America,  is looking for a Tweeter-in-chief.

As The Hill’s Blogging Brief Room reported, “President Obama’s political operation, Organizing for America, is hiring a ‘social networks manager’ whose primary responsibilities will be maintaining the group’s Twitter, Facebook and MySpace accounts.”

Of course, the comments on the blog were varied. Wrote Norm: “The person who takes that job is going to get a real earful. It will just be a sounding board for a frustrated nation. At least the American people will be venting in gigabytes! On the other side, the 140 characters will limit the degree at which they vent. Those in the bubble may see the real views of the American people and it isn’t pretty.”

“Fantastic! Unlike the Bush Admin, who didn’t want to hear from real Americans, only the Republican apologists, Obama is fulfilling another promise by opening up the lines of communication between the WH and the public,” wrote Rick.

So all you tweeters, you can now put your tweets to good use, and bring the nation together in 140 characters.  According to the job description, ‘The Social Networks Manager works closely with the rest of the new media department to execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.” Be warned – excellent writing and editing skills are needed, as well as strong organizing and campaigning instincts. You have to be ready to work hard because “this isn’t a 9 to 5 sort of job.”  Don’t they know FB fanatics and Tweeters are networking 24/7?

For those ready to give it a try,  here are the job application details
