Kal Penn – White House to White Castle?

Can this be true? Kal Penn, who had changed his name back to the original Kalpen Modi, and serves in the Obama Administration as the Associate Director of Public Engagement,  is leaving the White House to make yet another Harold and Kumar movie.

I guess the lure of Hollywood, making pothead movies, and having thousands of diehard fans is a strong pull.  Who can forget the craziness of ‘Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle’?  There are probably a lot of Harold and Kumar fans out there who are very happy at this turn of events.

‘Apparently White Castle Trumps White House,’ wrote Byran Enk in Movietone.com

So fans can look forward to wacky cheer in December 2011 – maybe even in 3 D – and Kal Penn can still serve the president by stimulating the economy with yet another box office hit!  After all, ‘Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay’ had raked in $43 million at the box office and brought smiles to a lot of faces.

But wait a minute! Yet another source says this may not be so – Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times writes: “A White House spokesman, Shin Inouye, told me Friday, “Mr. Modi is honored to serve in this Administration and has no announcements to make about his tenure here at this point.”

Could it be an April Fools prank? Oh, well, while we watch and wait, hungry fans can reheat some of the past posts about Kal Penn!
