    Tall Ambitions

India seems to have a lot of money to spare – building the world’s tallest statue with a price tag of $340 million!

India starts building World’s tallest statue

Statues are inert, without life, without blood. No matter how tall they are, no matter how big a tourist attraction they are, or how grand a political statement they make.

Wouldn’t Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s memory be honored by educating the youth of the country? How about scholarships in his name, new institutions of higher learning?

Would not making the lives of living people easier be a true tribute? Better homes, better toilets, more drinking water, an India that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel could be proud of.

What do you think $340 million should be used for?

Very true – wish people would spend money as if it was their own! They would then try to get the best value and the best benefits.

Building a statue is good if it inspires. Rightly said, size does not matter! Politicians need publicity and that’s the reason – they don’t mind spending money so easily, its not from their own pocket 🙂
