[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s the year ends and the atrocities against women continue unabated, not only in India but in all parts of the world, it becomes imperative to raise as many voices as possible – be it on the streets in protest, in writing or through the powerful medium of cinema.

One of the first Bollywood movies to be released in the new year will be the powerful film by Meghna Gulzar – ‘Chhapaak’, based on a true story of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid survivior who was attacked in 2005.

The film stars Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey and in a first, the film is co-produced by Padukone. We certainly need more strong films like this. It is being released on January 10.

Watch out for my review in early January!

Check out the videos of the live interviews with Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey and Meghna Gulzar

Check out the videos to get a face-to-face heads-up on the film from the cast and crew. As you will see, Deepika is very emotional about her role – it becomes a part of her life.
