    New Year – 2021

    From Me to You:

2021 – New Year Musings – Let the Show begin!

[dropcap]2020[/dropcap] was a scorcher – shell-shocked and weary we are so relieved to get off the scary ride in this nightmare amusement park. The incomprehensible numbers of infections and hospitalizations, the unbelievable loss of life, the grief of simply hearing about this meaningless carnage has been something we never anticipated or even dreamed we would come face to face with.

Yet some actually say 2020 wasn’t without a silver lining – good things did happen and life did go on. For some, a longed for wedding took place even during the pandemic, young adults got engaged, milestone birthdays occurred – and absence made the heart grow fonder. Family members, thrown into each other’s space, actually grew closer and learned novel ways of coping. Some told me of hikes they took together, the food they cooked together. Others learned of the untapped strengths they had in their survival kits.

Well the year is finally gone and we stand at the cusp of 2021. Let’s try to hold on the ‘good trouble’ we got into last year, the resilience, compassion and gratitude we showed under such difficult circumstances. We actually long for a magic inoculation in our arm to get super powers from it, for us to be invincible again where we can hug family, friends and strangers, where life is about making smart choices and embracing ideas and our fellow humans.

The New Year is only a few days old – we wade into this pool of the unknown, taking steps into a brave new world. A new show begins – may it be a great one!
