This year’s CHI Spring Luncheon marks the 20th year of this fundraising event – it has become an institution in itself! Supporters look forward to gathering after the cold of winter with friends and family to celebrate the power of helping children get an education and to especially empower the girl child. Close to 300 women come together for a cause close to their hearts.

This year we raised funds for She Shine, our project in community centers in India. CHI, as usual, did it in a fun way through a marketplace of dynamic women entrepreneurs who all donated to the cause. This was created by Artistic Affairs.

CHI honored strong women – the mother and daughter team of Anita Lulla and Rama Ginde, both chefs and co-founders of Satya Blends, were given the Women of Distinction awards; Monisha Agrawal, Vice President of Global Marketing at Tiffany & Co, spoke powerfully about women breaking barriers. Aditi Gugnani was honored as CHI Ambassador for all the wonderful work she has been doing, both in India and the US.

Grammy winner Falu, Mithu Malik, CEO of Musaafer, culture thespian Aroon Shivdasani, & Meera Gandhi of Giving Back Foundation were among several special guests. Great vibes at Leonard’s of Great Neck, cocktails, lunch and desserts, a chance to shop with 20 different women vendors of high fashion, jewelry and cosmetics – all for raising funds for CHI.

The icing on the cake was a first time guest who was so moved with the work of Children’s Hope India that she wrote us a surprise check for $20,000!
